London tube bomber Damon Smith loses appeal against sentence

Judges say 15-year jail term not excessive for actions ‘intended to cause really serious injury’

A man who was jailed for 15 years for planting a homemade bomb filled with ball-bearings on a London tube train has lost an appeal against his sentence.

Damon Smith built the device with a £2 clock from Tesco after finding an online al-Qaida article entitled Make a Bomb in the Kitchen of Your Mom.
